Replacement of Storm Drainage Pipes on East Antietam Street

City of Hagerstown Advisory
Replacement of Storm Drainage Pipes on East Antietam Street

Hagerstown, MD (August 25, 2010): During the week of August 30th, 2010, work crews from Henson & Son, Inc. will begin the replacement of storm drainage pipes in East Antietam Street between Cramer Alley (at the Washington County Free Library) and South Locust Street. This project is being performed by the City in support of the Library's renovation/expansion project.
During daytime work hours, eastbound traffic on Antietam Street will be detoured to Baltimore Street, and on-street parking in the work zone will be restricted; westbound traffic will be maintained. At night and on non-working days, the contractor will reopen eastbound Antietam Street to traffic whenever possible. The installation of the new storm drainage pipes will likely require the relocation of several water, sanitary sewer, and natural gas service laterals; residents affected by these relocations will be notified in advance of any service interruptions.
This work is scheduled to be completed by November 2010.
Westbound emergency vehicles will be able to pass through this block of Antietam Street during working hours, but eastbound vehicles will be forced to detour around the work zone.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused by this project. Please contact the City's Department of Parks and Engineering at 301-739-8577 x125 if there are any questions regarding this advisory.
