September 3rd First Friday to feature artists, car show, live music

Chambersburg, PA: Chambersburg's First Fridays continue on Friday September 3rd, as the Downtown Business Council partners with the Council for the Arts to present artists, live music and kids' events from 5-8pm. First Friday art walks will be held through December 2010 in downtown Chambersburg, offering live music, food and wine tastings, activities for kids, and regional artists displaying and selling their work.
Artists from throughout the area will display pottery, paintings, prints and photographs, as well as glass, fiber art and jewelry along Chambersburg's tree-lined Main Street. New to the regional artists presented will be Larry Ackley of Chambersburg, with Native American arts and crafts.
August's First Friday will feature live Celtic music on the Courthouse Plaza from 5-8 pm by Jamie O'Brien and folk tunes at the Council for the Arts, by Roy Justice. Children's events at Kerrstown Square will include "Miss Penelope", whose clown performances include complex - and free! - face painting, a "back-to-school" make-and-take craft.
The Downtown Business Council and the local radio station are organizing a Cruise In car show with classic cars parked around the Square, and up North Main Street. "The Council will be hosting an opening for our new gallery show," adds event organizer Anne Finucane, "and Kimberly Burkholder, of Celebracion, is organizing an evening tea at Main Street Deli. So it will be a busy night!"
Artists interested in participating in First Friday's should call Anne Finucane at 717-816-7568. For more information about First Friday events, call Tina Flohr at 261-0072.
