Engines rumbled as riders enjoyed the ride at the 7th Annual Bone to Be Wild

Hagerstown, MD: Big hearted motorcycle enthusiasts came from the four state regions to participate in the 7th annual Bone to Be Wild, the Dave Alderson Memorial Motorcycle Ride to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC). Held on Sunday July 18th, 2010, 109 motorcycles and 173 riders took part in the event that raised over $5,700.00 for the shelter.
The ride through beautiful western Washington County began at Harley-Davidson in Williamsport, MD and ended at Clear Spring Park in Clear Spring, MD. Awards were handed out to the riders who earned top pledges for participating in the ride. This year's honors went to Stan and Denise Bryan who raised $509.00 in pledges and Laurie Pfeiffer who raised $500.00 in pledges for the HSWC. Taking the honor of having driven the furthest to participate in the ride was given to Ralph Vaughn of Hanover, PA. Everyone at the HSWC would like to acknowledge the generosity of the winner of the 50/50 raffle, James Parks, who donated his winnings back to the shelter for a donation of $220.00.
Established by Peggy Bushy, Bone to Be Wild was established as a memorial ride to honor her husband Dave Alderson. The ride is in its 7th year and continues to be a very popular ride. Paul Miller, Executive Director of the HSWC was very pleased with the turn out. "This is a very warm day to be riding but my fellow riders weren't deterred by the heat," said Miller. "This illustrates their dedication to helping animals in need."
