Approaching Birthday Party will be a Double Digits Party for the Paws

Hagerstown, MD: When Mady Welsh, Shea Przywieczerski and Grace Murdoch celebrate their "Double Digits", also known as their tenth, birthdays today (February 28th) they will be making it a very special day for not only themselves but for homeless animals in Washington County. Instead of having a traditional party they will be having a skating party and instead of asking for gifts they are asking partygoers to bring items from the Humane Society of Washington County's Wish List.
The girls, accompanied by their mothers, Wendy Welsh, Amy Murdoch and Pat Kay, visited the shelter on Monday February 15th. "They came up with this idea all by themselves," said Wendy, adding, "Since they are all turning ten around the same time they thought it would be fun to have a joint party. Having just received so many Christmas gifts they thought they would celebrate their birthdays by doing something for those less fortunate and they chose to help homeless animals."
Grace's mother Amy added, "They just love animals so this seemed like a natural thing for them to do." Pat Shay is very proud of the girls. "I think this is wonderful. They are really looking forward to celebrating their double digit birthday together and helping the animals."
Paul Miller, Executive Director of the HSWC is very impressed. "This is a very thoughtful thing for these young ladies to do," said Miller. "It really illustrates the commitment they have for the human/animal bond."
The party will be held at Starland Skating Rink. Anyone wishing to donate items in recognition of the girl's birthdays and generosity are welcome to bring items to the skating rink. This is a private party so only invited guests will be permitted to skate. Starland is located at 800 Park Road in Hagerstown, MD and the party is TODAY from 5:00 to 7:30pm.
