Annual WCPS 8th Grade Day on the Job

Annual WCPS 8th Grade Day on the Job

Hagerstown, MD (January 22, 2010): February 2, 2010, is the day parents of Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) 8th grade students are encouraged to take their sons and daughters to work as part of the annual 8th Grade Day on the Job, in cooperation with many area businesses. Participating parents must submit a signed permission slip to their child's school by January 28, 2010. If a student is not able to spend the day at a parent's workplace, arrangements can be made for the child to visit another workplace; however, a parent or guardian must still submit the signed permission slip.
Each participating student will receive an Exploring Careers Together worksheet that must be completed and handed in at school the next day.
Interested parents and employers should contact Sharon Chirgott, 8th Grade Day on the Job coordinator, for more information, at 301-766-2956, or by e-mail at chirgsha@wcboe.k12.md.us. An official packet, including the permission slip, is available for download on the WCPS website at www.wcps.k12.md.us.
Mrs. Chirgott can be heard on WCPS One on One, the podcast series posted at www.antpod.com, discussing details of the program.
