HISTORY PROCLAMATIONS
April 27 through May 3 was proclaimed History Week in Washington County, and Commissioners recognized the 6th annual Museum Ramble set for May 2-3. Importance of history to the citizens of Washington County and the impact of the County's 35 museums in preserving heritage were recognized. Commissioners' President John Barr presented a Proclamation to "Captain" South Lynn, owner of the historic Kennedy Farm in the Southern part of the county. Lynn has worked for more than three decades restoring and maintaining the "John Brown House," an important part of the county's history. John Brown's abolitionist movement staged its famous 1859 raid on Harper's Ferry at that location.
