Annual Spring Dumpster Program

Annual Spring Dumpster Program

Hagerstown, MD (April 1, 2009): The City of Hagerstown announces its annual spring dumpster program for City residents (proof of residency will be required).
The dumpster program will be held Monday April 13, 2009, through Saturday April 18, 2009 at the intersection of South Potomac Street and West Memorial Boulevard (across from Bester Elementary School). Entry can be made from South Potomac Street turning into the alley next to New Deal Truck Parts and Service.
Dumping hours will be 7am until 7pm Monday through Friday and 7am until 3pm on Saturday. No dumping after 3pm on Saturday will be permitted.
The following items are not permitted: tires, batteries, paint, chemical waste or any other hazardous waste. Also, items that contain freon such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers are not permitted.
The dumpsters are not to be used by commercial haulers.
"We are adding something new this year," stated Public Works Manager Eric Deike. " A limited number of electronic recyclables will be collected for recycling. Those items would include computer components (keyboard, monitor and CPU) and televisions."
Deike added that we ask that individuals should not place yard waste or recyclable items (bottles, cans, newspaper, etc.) in the dumpsters since the City currently has a separate program for those types of items. Information on the yard waste and/or recyclable items can be obtained by calling 301-739-8577 x106.
Any inquiries on the dumpster program should be directed to the Public Works Office by calling 301-739-8577 x178.
