County Office is Liaison for State Cabinet Speakers

The Washington County Public Information Office will serve as liaison with the Maryland Secretary of State's Office and the Governor's Office, in scheduling state Cabinet Secretaries for speaking engagements in the County.
In a letter to County Commissioners' President John Barr written on behalf of Governor Martin O'Malley's administration, Secretary of State John P. McDonough asked for assistance in an effort to work better with the citizens of Washington County identifying civic groups or business or service organizations that are interested in hearing more about State efforts in a particular Cabinet officer's area of expertise.
The designated office is the Office of Public Information, which will work directly with the Secretary of State's Office to facilitate arrangements between local groups and Cabinet officials.
The action is part of a statewide effort to help state and county governments work together to solve mutual problems. One local contact point was chosen in each of Maryland's counties.
Representatives of groups and agencies wishing to schedule speaking engagements by Cabinet Secretaries should contact Norman Bassett, Public Information Officer, at
240-313-2077, or nbassett@washco-md.net at least 670 days in advance of the requested meeting date.
The request will be routed directly to the Office of Secretary of State McDonough.
