County employees participate in the United Way Day of Caring

Hagerstown, MD (October 16, 2012) - On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 70 Washington County employees participated in the United Way of Washington County Day of Caring. Beginning the morning at the breakfast rally held at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center, the employees were divided into nine teams to complete the following assigned projects:
- Painted two apartments for the Washington County Community Action Council,
- Sanded floors and painted the exterior for Memorial Recreation Center,
- Painted the interior of the offices for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Washington County,
- Repaired and painted a handicapped ramp and sealed a driveway for a Washington County resident,
- Repaired a porch and washed the siding and windows of a dwelling for a Washington County resident,
- Painted and made repairs for Normal, Inc.,
- Painted a classroom, a hallway and performed minor repairs for Broadfording Christian Academy.
In addition, the County employees, as a whole, collected 12 boxes of personal hygiene items for the residents of The W House.
The County is now looking forward to the United Way Employee Contribution Campaign, which will begin soon. The goal is to beat last year's contributions totaling over $97,000 in donations. To view photos of Team Washington County Government participating in the Day of Caring, visit .
