2014 Humane Society of Washington County's Polar Plunge

HAGERSTOWN - The Humane Society of Washington County is gearing up for the 11th annual Polar Bear Plunge on Jan. 18 2014 at Greenbrier State Park in Boonsboro, Md.
The plunge will occur at noon sharp with hundreds of participants pre-registered. However, future "Polar Bears," may register on Saturday at the event.
There are several local 'notables' willing to freeze their fur off on Saturday. Washington County Commissioner Jeff Cline and Kaplan University and HSWC Board Member Heather Guessford are working together in a heated fundraising 'competition'. Both have put significant challenges out that include shaving heads and submerging in the water.
In addition HMTV6's Raychel Harvey Jones and 94.3 WQCM radio personality Shawn Quinn are also participating in the event.
Potential participants can register online by going to hswcmd.org and creating a personal fundraising page. All pre-registered participants will receive a long-sleeved custom T-shirt. Anyone who would like to sponsor participants can go to hswcmd.org/event to make a donation.
The Humane Society of Washington County is a 501C3 organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for all animals. Through education, legislation, action and leadership, we strive to eliminate overpopulation and to foster an environment of respect, responsibility and compassion.
