Shepherdstown's "Boo!Fest" to Celebrate Halloween With Line up of Horror Movie Classics

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV -- The historic town of Shepherdstown, WV, is going to celebrate Halloween, rain or shine, with a week-long "Boo!Fest." The town is organizing a wide variety of Halloween activities for all ages - with food, arts & crafts, costume parade, Zombie street dance, ghost tour & haunted house.
One of highlights is the wide range of classic horror films that will be interwoven into the festival's program. On Sat, Oct 26, there will be a true classic experience with the showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Reynolds Hall on King Street on the Shepherd University campus. This event, sponsored by the Shepherd University Theater Department, starts at 9 p.m. and runs for two hours. Characters are welcome and you can bring your own supplies - toast, confetti, t-paper etc - or buy them at the event.
All of the other movies will take place at the Shepherdstown Opera House and a donation of $5 will be asked for at the door for the Monday and Wednesday series of movies as indicated with an asterisk (*) below:
Sat, Oct 26
2-3:30 p.m. The Nightmare before Christmas (Shepherdstown Opera House)
9-11 p.m. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Reynolds Hall)
Mon, Oct 28
7-8:30 p.m. Frankenstein (Shepherdstown Opera House)*
9-10:30 p.m. Dracula (Shepherdstown Opera House)*
Wed, Oct 30
7-8:30 p.m. Night of the Living Dead (Shepherdstown Opera House)*
9-10:30 p.m. House of 1000 Corpses (Shepherdstown Opera House)*
For those wanting to make an evening of dinner and a movie, Boo!Fest is also offering live performance/readings of horror classics during a prix fixe autumnal dinner at several local restaurants.
Mon, Oct 28 Performance/ Readings of Edgar Allen Poe classics
6-8:30 p.m. Dinner at the Bistro 112
Tues, Oct 29 Performance/ Readings of Stephen King classic excerpts
6-8:30 p.m. Dinner at Domestic
(This dinner and reading is following by "Appalachian Haints and Hauntings" with storyteller Lyn Ford at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Legislative Studies from 7 - 8:30 p.m.)
Wed, Oct 30 Performance/Reading of West Virginia writers' scary, classic tales
6-8:30 p.m. Dinner at the Yellow Brick Bank
The Boo!Fest is being sponsored by the Shepherdstown Visitors Center, the Shepherd University Theater Department, the Station at Shepherdstown, and the Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
