Celebrities Donate Items for CVSM Auction

CHAMBERSBURG -- Cumberland Valley School of Music has received items from celebrities to be auctioned off at the CVSM Elegant Dinner Dance and Auction. Singer Liza Minnelli and late-night host Jay Leno have donated framed autographed photos. Magician David Copperfield contributed two autographed world-tour t-shirts. Singer/songwriter Tony Bennett autographed sheet music. World-class cellist Yo-Yo Ma sent two used cello strings. Poet Maya Angelo signed a framed poem.
Cumberland Valley School of Music will host "An Evening Mediterranean Cruise", on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the Chambersburg Country Club. The event hosts a large live and silent auction with more than fifty items up for bid. Auction donations include vacation trips, special dinners, autographed celebrity memorabilia, hotel lodging, golf packages, music performances by professional musicians, paintings, gift baskets, certificates to area restaurants, fine jewelry courtesy of Ludwig Jewelers, Inc. and more. Cash, checks and major credit cards will be accepted.
Chef Pat Young and his culinary team from EJ's Grill, Chambersburg, will prepare and present a four-course meal of authentic Mediterranean cuisine. The dinner menu features an appetizer of Seared Scallop and Shrimp with Fennel and Escarole, followed by a Romaine Salad with Hearts of Palm, Kalamata Olive, Crisp Onion Ring (not fried), and Orange-Honey Vinaigrette. The entree will be Tuscan Style Braised Short Ribs with onions, carrots and leeks, thyme, paprika, coriander, garlic, red wine and tomato. The entree will be served with couscous with chickpeas and pistachios. Crisp Pear Strudel will be served for dessert. A Mediterranean vegetarian menu is available upon request prior to the event. Wine, beer and soft drinks are complimentary with the meal.
Live dance music for the evening will be provided by the New Jersey based "Kenny i Band". Kenny i has performed with Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, Natalie Cole, Regis Philbin, Marvin Hamlish, Sammy Davis and many other legendary performers.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a champagne and hors d'oeuvres welcome. Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the non-profit CVSM, a member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education. F&M Trust is the corporate sponsor.
Tickets are $90 per person and all proceeds benefit the non-profit organization. For ticket reservations or more information, call CVSM at 717-261-1220.
