Local Grocery Store and Wine Distributor Join Forces to Help Homeless Animals

HAGERSTOWN, MD: On Saturday December 22, 2012 Gordon's Grocery, held a wine tasting to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC). The event resulted in a cash donation of $244.00 and a large amount of food, litter, toys and blankets. Gordon's Grocery is located at 101 Cypress Street in Hagerstown, MD.
Hosted by store owners John Gordon and Cynthia Millsap the wine tasting was in collaboration with Shawn Clopper of Monument Fine Wines. "We enjoy being able to help the Humane Society of Washington County," said John. "Anything we can do to help is worthwhile," said Cynthia. "Doing this fundraiser twice a year works well because our clientele is very supportive and really make these events a success," said John. "I've always been an animal lover and so many of my friends and family are as well. If I'm going to do a charitable wine tasting I can't think of a better cause. This is my third one for the HSWC hosted by Gordon's Grocery and we would like to continue in 2013," said Clopper.
The Humane Society of Washington County is located at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown, MD. Visit our website, www.hswcmd.org, for information on animal related issues, directions to the shelter and information about our programs and services.
