Tru Cut Lawn and Landscape recently sponsored Renfrew Institute's annual Salamander Scramble 5K Run Fundraiser with a donation of $1,250.
A team of 67 "scramblers" participated in the fundraiser, running or walking the 5K course. The event, held in conjunction with Waynesboro's Firecracker 5K, netted nearly $7,000 to support educational programming at Renfrew Institute.
Additional sponsors included Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Quang and Tammie Tran of Mes Reves Restaurant, David and Tawnya Secor, WACCO Properties, The Runner's Sole, R. Thomas Murphy and Associates, Cornerstone Family Dentistry, and Eichholz Flowers. In-kind support was provided by Advanced Chiropractic Care, Drs. May Cao and Stephen Bui.
Renfrew Institute offers programs in environmental education and farmstead life of the 1800s for elementary and middle school students in the Cumberland Valley region. Nearly 10,000 student visits are recorded annually.
The institute also hosts several free community events throughout the year.
