9-year-old girl makes Good Friday Fundraiser successful

Hagerstown, MD: Thanks to Katie Reeder's determination and enthusiasm for the sale of raffle tickets at Hempen Hill BBQ's 5th annual Wake n Bake fundraiser to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County, Inc. (HSWC) she was able to present HSWC Executive Director Paul Miller with a donation of $760.00.
Katie, daughter of Hempen Hill BBQ owners Jay and Kathy Reeder, was determined to help out at the fundraiser. "We are really proud of Katie for working so hard to sell the raffle tickets," said Kathy. "It was a great opportunity for her to meet people, learn to handle money and help the animals she loves so much all at the same time."
Selling the tickets was a challenge Katie gladly met. "I sold the entire roll of tickets," Katie proudly stated. "It took me about 4 hours but I sold them all!" Raffle ticket holders vied for a variety of fantastic prizes that included a highly coveted beer bong, limited edition beer signs, Hempen Hill t Shirts and caps and an Orioles Bobble Head.
Close to 170 people attended the festivities that began at 9 am and continued until 2 pm. They enjoyed food and refreshments from an omelet and BBW stations and Bloody Mary Bar. An eclectic choice of music was provided by the bluegrass band Virginia Creepers, jazz funk fusion band TJ Kong & the Atomic Bomb and rock from the Backroads Band. For those revelers who preferred to let a designated driver take them home Duane Dillard's Luxury Transportation Services provided free limousine transportation.
Plans are already being made for next year's fundraiser. "We love doing this and it really makes us proud that we can help out like this," said Kathy. "We are already looking forward to the 6th annual Wake N Bake." Hempen Hill BBQ is located at 13208 Fountain Head Plaza in Hagerstown, MD 21742.
