Potomac Heights students collect supplies for the troops

Hagerstown, MD (December 5, 2011) - American troops in the CST and Ranger Unit in Afghanistan, along with Afghan women and children will be receiving shipments from students at Potomac Heights Elementary School, who collected personal necessities, snacks, candy and sunscreen for the soldiers and hats, gloves and scarves for the women and children. The students collected four boxes of items and a local business, Olde Line Tattoo, matched the donation with another four boxes and paid for the shipping. The unit receiving the supplies was that of the late Ashley White-Stumpf, who was killed in Afghanistan in October. She is the sister-in-law of Potomac Heights first grader teacher Kate White.
Potomac Heights also reports on the 300 balloons that were released during the school's Veterans Day ceremony. The balloons contained the names of family members who have served or are serving our country. To date, 21 balloons have been called in, three that were found in the state of New York.
