It's Only Ink! Marco Flamingo

It's Only Ink!
Marco Flamingo

Skipping to your own beat can be an admirable trait. In "Marco Flamingo" by Sheila Jarkins Marco decides to journey northward to experience winter for himself. He has always lived in the south, anxiously awaiting the return of his snowbird friends. He listens to their stories and secretly wishes to do migrate as they do someday.
Feeling that only he can make his dream come true, he tells his friends he is doing a reverse migration and sets off bright and early one morning. Naturally they tell him that it isn't a good idea, but Marco doesn't want to hear that. He just has to do this.
Follow Marco on his journey and see what happens to a bird that is used to sunny days and warm tropical waters.
Adorably drawn illustrations by the author bring Marco and his band of friends to life! The illustrations are bright, comical, and move the story along perfectly.
The storyline is presented in both English and Spanish. A keyword bilingual vocabulary page is available in the back of the book.
Teachers can have fun with this one. Get a discussion going about the migration of birds - why they do it and where they go. Every library, whether public, at school, or at home should have "Marco Flamingo" on the shelves.
