It's Only Ink!
If I Could
The world is a magical place. If you could do anything you wanted - what would you do?
In IF I COULD by Nancy Sweetland, one little boy decides that he would fly like a bird, swim like a fish, jump like a frog, and flow like the sea. In fact, there isn't much he wouldn't try...if he could.
Sweetland's children's picture book takes readers on a thrilling ride of wishes and whimsical dreams. What's great is that in the end, the boy realizes that he enjoys being himself best. Children need to learn to love who they are and what they have; not worry about what the kid next door has, and it's our job as parents to teach them this. It's great to dream - run wild with your imagination! I think Sweetland's story tells children this, and I highly recommend it because of that.
The dream-like drawings by Robert Sweetland flow wonderfully with the story, bringing the boy to live in his fantastical world of wishes.
IF I COULD would make a splendid addition to any library and grade school classroom setting.
