It's Only Ink!
I Wish I Was Strong Like Manuel

Perfect for elementary-aged children, "I Wish I Was Strong Like Manuel" by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook is a great way to start a discussion with children about what they'd like to change about themselves. With improportional dolls, overly thin models, and not-your-average people absorbing TV, magazines, and the like, it's no wonder we all - kids and adults - feel inferior at times.
As a mother of three, I feel these topics need and should be addressed. The "I Wish..." series produced by Raven Tree Press works wonderfully in this important and sometimes sensitive issue.
In Heling and Hembrook's "I Wish..." book one little boy wishes he was strong like his friend Manuel. He even goes as far as to wear inflated water wings and sometimes his football shoulder pads under his clothing to make it appear as though he has large muscles. What the young boy goes through to prove that he is just as strong will make children giggle. But in the end, he finds that his friend Manuel admires him as well. Find out how by checking out "I Wish I Was Strong Like Manuel" by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook. Other "I Wish..." titles include: "I Wish I Had Freckles Like Abby", "I Wish I Had Glasses Like Rosa", and "I Wish I Was Tall Like Willie".
With the growing number of Spanish speaking households in the United States,
Raven Tree Press recognizes the need for high quality reading materials in a variety of bilingual and wordless formats. By presenting English and Spanish in the same book we believe speakers of both languages learn faster. It also allows multicultural awareness, language development and a learning process important to our global community.
