WARX-FM 106.9 becomes 106.9 "The Eagle"

WARX-FM 106.9 becomes 106.9 "The Eagle", Classic Hits in Maryland

Nassau Broadcasting Partners, L.P. announced today that they have changed the format of one of its Maryland radio stations licensed to Hagerstown, MD, WARX-FM 106.9. As of 11AM on February 27, 106.9 FM became 106.9 The Eagle, The Four States' New #1 for Classic Hits. "The change comes after substantial research of the market where we asked area listeners what they were looking for in a radio station, said Michelle Stevens, EVP Programming. "We are excited to provide the Hagerstown, Frederick, Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Martinsburg--"Four States" --area with a station where every song is a classic from artists like Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, and Elton John, featuring the most music in the four states with 20 Song Music Marathons."
Nassau recently took over operations of WARX-FM on January 1, 2005 as part of a local marketing agreement and will formally acquire the station upon approval for the transfer of license from the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC"). WARX-FM is a class "B" FM radio station broadcasting at 106.9 MHz with 15,500 watts of power from 853-feet above average terrain. Nassau is also operating and acquiring WARK-AM 1490 AM and has recently purchased WAFY FM, Key 103.1 FM.
"We are delighted to be operating in the Frederick/Hagerstown, MD area with three leading radio stations and believe that the launch of 106.9 The Eagle brings the area music that listeners have told us was missing from their dial," said Lou Mercatanti, Nassau's Chairman and CEO. "We are a listener focused radio company and we are proud to be able to offer classic hits programming to the suburbs of both Washington D.C. and Baltimore."
A privately held firm in Princeton, NJ, Nassau Broadcasting Partners, L.P. owns, operates, or has agreements to acquire 52 radio stations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. In national rankings, Nassau Broadcasting is the 15th largest broadcaster in the number of stations owned and the 28th largest in the amount of revenue generated.
