It's Only Ink!
Let's face it...it's hard enough sometimes to be who you want to be today...imagine what it must be like for younger girls.
"Body Talk" is the perfect book for girls 8 & up. It gives them insightful facts about how adolescent girls their age see themselves. The authors, Ann Douglas and Julie Douglas, have put together a resourceful and fun guide to help girls feel good about themselves.
Girls today see overly thin models and unrealistically portioned dolls. This, in my opinion, gives them the impression that this healthy and normal. We are a society obsessed with perfection.
With candid information on eating disorders, fad diets, blemishes and fashion do's and don'ts, "Body Talk" uses humor and insightful facts to let girls know that they are unique and beautiful. Combined with Claudia Davila's colorful and comical illustrations, "Body Talk" gives girls smart advice and valuable tips on how to care for their growing bodies.
In the back of the book the authors, a mother and daughter team, have listed several websites to aid young girls in learning more about themselves.
This book comes highly recommended by this reviewer her pre-teen daughter.
