The Problems With Not Getting What You Hope For
Everyone knows you don't always get what you hope for. Rick Walton wants to know: what do you get instead? "You Don't Always Get What You Hope For" is a children's picture book that tells the tale of a little boy whose wishes get messed up one Monday morning. He hopes for toast and juice but before he can get to the kitchen, a tornado picks him up and flies him to a castle where the King orders him to eat a banana split. When he returns home, he hopes for a warm shower, but a wave sweeps him away to the ocean and onto a pirate ship where he is told to walk the plank. The little boy's day continues this way, witnessing his school floating in the sky, having an alien order him to cook one trillion hamburgers before returning home to his mother who told him about the time she hoped she would get new socks for her birthday.
This creative is handsomely illustrated with dramatic pencil drawings in full color. The exaggerated drawings by Heidi Stetson Mario fit perfectly with the wild happenings in Walton's book.
Most children will appreciate this whimsical and fantastical tale of one imaginative little boy.
