Counting with Coins
With the message, "Dream your reality," John Luksetich's children's picture book, "No Small Change," is a wonderful story set in medieval times. It is about one penny who wanted to make cents.
When the two half dollar Royal Rulers told Peasant Penny that she's too small to make change and that she didn't make cents, she called upon her penny friends to help her. Together they rolled across the country toward the dollar castle, making cents and knocking over Duke Dime and the other loyal coin subjects. Now it was up to Penny and her copper coins to show the Royal Rulers that together, pennies make a lot of cents.
Does Penny and her friends make enough cents to break down the dollar wall? Will they ever get to show the half-dollars that they belong in Money World just like the other coins?
"No Small Change" is an imaginative way of showing small children how to make change using all types of coins--including and especially pennies. Perfect for schools, homes, and day care as an educational tool, Luksetich's book is a storybook children will pick up to read again and again.
Patti Kern's vivid, full-color illustrations are humorous and bring penny and all the coins to life.
