Martin's Food Markets Announces Brand-New Hagerstown Store to Open September 10

Martin's Food Markets Announces Brand-New Hagerstown Store to Open September 10
Great new store, same low prices

Hagerstown, MD- Continuing its long tradition of service to the Hagerstown community, Martin's Food Markets today announced that the doors of its newest location at 18726 N. Point Drive will open on at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10. This newly built 85,000 square foot store will replace the existing Martin's located at 13206 Fountainhead Plaza. This location will close for business on Tuesday, September 9 at 6pm.
The food retailer also announced that Colin Snyder has been appointed as store manager of the new Hagerstown Martin's. A resident of Chambersburg, PA, Snyder has nearly 30 years of experience in the grocery store business and served most recently as the store manager at the Fountainhead Plaza Martin's.
Martin's Food Markets is operated by Giant Food Stores, headquartered in Carlisle, PA. In operation since 1923, Giant purchased its first Martin's Food Market, located in Hagerstown, in 1970 from Maurice and Menno Martin. The history of Martin's dates back to 1936 when Daniel Martin opened a fruit stand on Pennsylvania Avenue. By 1965, Martin's had grown to become the largest complete food market in Hagerstown by specializing in home-style bakery and deli products and a full variety of food products.
"Our newest Martin's is the fourth generation store since the original store was built just down the road," said Synder. "This Martin's will offer our customers an expanded selection of items in virtually every department, in an inviting atmosphere and with helpful and friendly associates they will recognize from our former location." Open 24 hours daily, the new Martin's store will employ approximately 300 full- and part-time associates at the new store, more than doubling the number of associates from the Fountainhead Plaza location.
"As well as continuing our tradition of community support, our newest Martin's will provide a convenient and enhanced one-stop shopping experience at the same low prices customers have come to expect from Martin's," added Snyder.
Giant Food Stores, LLC, one of the leading supermarket operations in the U.S., currently operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia under the names of Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets and FoodSource.
