Pitch, Hit & Run Award Winners

Hagerstown, MD (MAY 5, 2008)- The City of Hagerstown and the American Little League Field hosted Pitch, Hit & Run sponsored by Major League Baseball and Aquafina on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the American Little League Field. Approximately fifty kids between the ages of seven and fourteen turned out to show of their pitching, hitting and running skills in an effort to move on to the Sectional Level of competition. The overall winners and each skill level winner for each age group will move on to the Sectional competition on June 1, 2008 at Broome Athletic Park located at 751 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville, MD 20851.
For the age group of seven and eight year-olds, five pitchers tied for the winning spot. The winners are Dylan Eyler, Kavon Gaines, Jaret Lazich, Dawson Hottinger and Jakob Conner with one target hit and 75 points each. For the same age group in the hitting competition the winner was Desmar Wilson at 143 feet and 286 points. The winner of the running portion for seven and eight age group was Quiezzhee Gantt with 8.94 seconds and 256 points. The All Around Champion for the age group was Jaret Lazich with 537 total points. All Around Second Place winner was Dawson Hottinger with 468 points total. All Around Third Place winner was Desmar Wison with 386 points.
For the age group including nine and ten year-olds, the winner of the pitching contest was Tanner Canfield with three targets hit and 225 points. For this age group the winner of the hitting portion was Jacob Wise with 142 feet and 284 points. The winner of the nine and ten year runners was Tanner Canfield with 8.65 seconds and 285 points. All Around Champion for the age group was Tanner Canfield with a total of 770 points. All Around Second Place was Quiezahn Gantt with a total of 637 points. The All Around Third Place winner for this age group was Dante Harper with 546 points.
For the age group of eleven and twelve year-olds there was a tie for the winner of the pitching competition. Both Kyle Blackburn and Airin Martin hit four targets for 300 points. The winner in the hitting competition was Jeremiah Younker with 187 feet and 374 points. The running winner for this age division was Airin Martin with 8.28 seconds and 322 points. All Around Champion for the eleven and twelve age group was Airin Martin with 982 total points. All Around Second Place winner was Kyle Blackburn with 844 points. All Around Third Place winner was Jeremiah Younker with 789 points total.
For age group thirteen and fourteen, there was a tie for the pitching winner between Jay Holbrook and Kenyon Bey Jr. with three target hits each and 225 points. The winner of the hitting portion was Blake Lyles with 194 feet and 388 points. The winner of the running competition for the age group was Jay Holbrook with 7.44 seconds and 406 points. All Around Champion for the thirteen and fourteen age group was Jay Holbrook with a total of 993 points. All Around Second Place winner was Kenyon Bey Jr. with 885 points. All Around Third Place winner with 760 total points was Blake Lyles.
