Calling All Kid Chefs! Enter Kitch'n Kids Recipe Contest

Carlisle, PA- Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets call all aspiring chefs ages 7 to 14 to enter the Kitch'N Kids recipe contest for the chance to win a $10,000 savings bond!
The Kitch'N Kids contest inspires the chef inside every child to create a delicious, nutritious original breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack recipe that includes at least one serving of milk, cheese or yogurt from Dannon, Cabot, Lehigh Valley or Giant. The chefs of the top five recipes will compete for the grand prize in a "cook off" on April 26. Four first prize winners will each receive a $1,000 savings bond and 100 second prize winners will win a Kitch'N Kids apron.
"Kitch'N Kids gives children the chance to experiment with healthy foods, especially bone-building dairy products," said Sylvia Emberger, RD, LDN, Giant and Martin's corporate nutritionist. "By learning how to prepare healthy meals and snacks at a young age, kids will be better prepared to eat healthfully as adults."
In its second year, Kitch'N Kids is sponsored by Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets to encourage parents and children to spend quality time together while making healthy family meals. Studies suggest that when kids are involved in selecting and preparing foods, they are more likely to try new foods. That's important because most children and teens do not consume the recommended three to four servings of dairy a day. This recipe contest encourages kids to explore delicious foods that offer more sources of milk, cheese or yogurt to help build stronger bones and better bodies.
All Kitch'N Kids contest entries must be received by March 22, 2008. For complete contest details, entry information and rules, visit the customer service desk at your local store or log on to and click on the Kitch'N Kids link.
