Mason and Dixon Kennel Club Makes Donation to the Hagerstown Police Department

Mason and Dixon Kennel Club Makes Donation to the Hagerstown Police Department

Hagerstown, MD- On Monday, February 4, 2008 the Mason and Dixon Kennel Club (MDKC) donated $2,500.00 to the Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) to assist in the completion of a K9 training facility. MDKC President Victor Guilmino presented the check to HPD Lieutenant Michael King.
Also attending the presentation were Officer Patty Shantz and her two K9 companions Angel and Noro. Officer Tom Bartles and his K9 companion Queen, Officer Eric Knode and his canine companion Ben, and Detective Brian Hook and his canine companion Sam. Following the presentation Officer Shantz comment, "All of the members of the Hagerstown Police Department are here on their own time. That is how pleased we are about this donation."
The idea for the donation originated in January 2007 after a demonstration by HPD officers Patty Shantz and Tom Bartles and their HPD K9 companions at the January membership meeting. Indicating the K9 training was taking place outside of Washington County, the club membership determined they would like to help complete the training facility that was planned locally.
"Long Fencing donated the fencing two years ago, but we haven't been able to complete the course until now," indicated Lieutenant King. He added, "With this donation from the Mason and Dixon Kennel Club we will be able to provide a specialized training facility for our human/K9 teams right here in the County. We are very pleased about this donation."
MDKC President Victor Guilmano indicated the membership is delighted to be able to make the donation to the HPD. "It is with great pleasure that the Mason and Dixon Kennel Club presents this donation. Our members are keenly award of the need to train on a regular basis. We are very happy to help the HPD complete this much needed training facility right here in Washington County," said Guilmano. He added, "These officers and their canine companions give so much to our community, putting their lives on the line every day. We are very happy to be able to give something back to them."

The Mason and Dixon Kennel Club is an AKC affiliated all breed kennel club dedicated to the sport of purebred dogs.
