Leaders and Friends Support Girls, Inc.

Hagerstown, MD- Leadership Washington County alumni and friends were out in full support of Girls, Inc. on Friday evening, February 1, 2008 at a fundraiser held at the Elks Club.
Girls, Inc.'s executive director, Maureen Grove is a graduate of Leadership Washington County, as are several members of the Board of Directors of Girls, Inc. Still others from among the ranks of LWC graduates and current class members that are loyal supporters of this very successful and results-oriented nonprofit.
"It's so rewarding for me, as executive director of Leadership Washington County," said Cindy Kalkbrenner, to see a class so supportive of their fellow classmates and of our community's nonprofits.
"In addition to having a table-plus of supporters of Girls, Inc., our Leaders-on-Loan program is getting increasingly more active in the community," said Kalkbrenner. "Last month, a group worked shoulder-to-shoulder with girls from San-Mar on renovating their new office space, alumni and current class members fielded a team for the United Way Day of Caring, and a smaller group helped to construct new picnic tables for the children at HeadStart. That's what leadership is all about."
"It did my heart good to see so many friendly faces at our fundraiser," said Maureen Grove, executive director of Girls, Inc. "Participating in the leadership program has helped Girls, Inc. to make new friends and that circle of support is what keeps us going."
The Girls, Inc. fundraiser, which featured music of Love, Seed, Mama Jump raised over $6,000.
