Master Gardeners Offer Summer Gardening Experience

The Franklin County Master Gardeners will offer a "Summer Vegetable Garden Experience" to participants at the Horticultural Gardens located at the Franklin County Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg PA, for the 25-week growing season of 2008, meeting Monday mornings from 9-11am from April 21 through September 29. Registration is required and the number of participants is limited. Call the Extension Office at 717-263-9226 to pre-register before March 15.
Participants who enroll in "Summer Vegetable Garden Experience" will learn everything from soil preparation to summer harvesting techniques, doing the hands-on garden work, and taking home the produce grown. Tools will be provided. A short lecture on a different gardening topic will also be presented each week. Topics include tilling and planning a vegetable garden, building a raised bed, seed and plant selection, mulching, watering, and insect and pest management.
Pre-registration is required; the cost for the season is $20 per person, due at the time of registration. Call 717-263-9226 for more information.
