"True Companions: Student Perspectives" at Arts Council to Benefit Shelter

Chambersburg, PA- The Council for the Arts announces the opening of a new exhibition of works by local artists. "True Companions: Student Perspectives" featuring animal portraits by Chambersburg Area Senior High School art students, will be on view Friday January 18th through Saturday February 9th at the Council's gallery at 159 South Main Street in Chambersburg, Tuesday through Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. A meet-the-artists reception will be held on Thursday January 31, 4-6pm, and the public is invited to stop by during IceFest to see the students' works.
The student artists of "True Companions" have coordinated a supply drive to benefit the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, in conjunction with their exhibit. Those wishing to support the Shelter's animals with a donation should visit www.cvas-pets.org or call 717-263-5791.
Exhibitors in "True Companions" will include Heather Barnhart, Sarah Bietsch, Justin Bettis, Minzhi Chen, Courtney Colley, Ben Ellis, Rachel Hess, Ben Jones, Nicole Leon, Dustin Naugle, Kelsey Rachilla, Elizabeth Rosenberry, Holly Rothrock, Matt Ryan and Kristy Sherman. Many different media will be included in the display, and works by more than a dozen artists from the High School's Advanced Placement and Drawing & Painting classes will be included.
"We are always excited to display the work of student artists," explained the Council's Gallery Coordinator Anne Finucane. "Young people never fail to bring fresh insights and creativity to their work." The Council for the Arts exhibits high quality works by area artists in its gallery throughout the year. The public is welcome to meet the artists at the reception Thursday, January 31 from 4-6pm, or to view the exhibit during regular office hours, Tues.-Fri. 10am-4pm, and Saturday, 10am-2pm, January 18th through February 9th.
