Suns Announce 2008 Game Schedule

Suns Announce 2008 Game Schedule

The Hagerstown Suns, Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals, announced today the team's schedule for the upcoming 2008 season. The Suns will play a 140-game schedule, with 70 games at home and 70 on the road. The home opener is set for Friday, April 11th at 6:35pm.
The 2008 home schedule features ten Thursdays, twelve Fridays and ten Saturdays. The Suns full promotional calendar as well as other game times will be announced at a later date.
This season Justin Maxwell made his MLB debut for the Washington Nationals. Maxwell was promoted all the way to the big leagues on September 4th after beginning the year in Hagerstown. Hagerstown is likely to see much more talent play for the home team in 2008.
Fans will notice that the South Atlantic League made an effort for varied play within the league next year. The Suns have a more balanced schedule in 2008 as the team will play 13 (out of a possible 15) different South Atlantic League teams in 2008. The Suns will welcome two teams to Municipal Stadium that did not play here in 2007 - the Asheville Tourists and Kannapolis Intimidators. The Greensboro Grasshoppers will host the 2008 South Atlantic League All-Star game on June 17th.
Also of note, the Suns take on the Baltimore Orioles affiliated Delmarva Shorebirds at Municipal Stadium for a 5-game series, and one entire homestand, from August 20-August 24th.
The Suns complete schedule is listed on the website www.hagerstownsuns.com.
