Workshop Series for Area Nonprofits

Workshop Series for Area Nonprofits

(Hagerstown) "The Washington County Leadership Development Program, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will be offering the second is a series of workshops for area nonprofits on Thursday, October 18th at the Cortland Mansion. The subject will be strategic planning.
"Our first workshop on effective boardsmanship met with rave reviews," said Cindy Kalkbrenner, executive director. "Feedback from that workshop, held earlier this year, determined what this session topic would be. Overwhelmingly, nonprofits want more information on strategic planning."
Simply put, strategic planning determines where an organization is going over the next year or more, how it's going to get there and how it'll know if it got there or not. The focus of a strategic plan is usually on the entire organization, while the focus of a business plan is usually on a particular product, service or program. Strategic planning serves a variety of purposes for organizations such as clearly defining goals and objectives and how to measure an organization's effectiveness. Sounds simple, but it really isn't," says Kalkbrenner. "We have a stellar line-up of speakers with years and years of planning experience and success in helping area agencies work through this important process."
Future seminars are planned on grant writing and public relations/marketing for nonprofits.
