2007 Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack Available FREE Through the CVB

2007 Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack Available FREE Through the CVB

(Hagerstown, MD)- The Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack is being distributed at local visitor and welcome centers, courtesy of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and The Gruber Almanack Company headquartered in Hagerstown.
The Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau is making copies of the Almanack available free of charge at the Visitor Welcome Center in downtown Hagerstown. According to CVB President Tom Riford, "The Hagerstown Almanack is a wonderful gift for visitors to our county, and we're so pleased that the owners of the Almanack made these available for the CVB to distribute as a community service. The 2007 edition still has many good months left of wonderful information." Riford said that residents are encouraged to pick up a copy, as well. "It's a great resource, and full of fun facts." The CVB also distributes the Almanack to convention attendees coming to Washington County throughout the remainder of the year.
The Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack is an annual publication serving as a source for regional weather predictions, useful household and farm information, and insights into everyday living. It has been home to the famous "woolly bear caterpillar contest." It's been called "uniquely Hagerstown," but is well-known throughout the world.
The Almanack has a long history, and is known as the second oldest almanac in the United States, and the longest published family-owned almanac. At 211 years old, it's one of the most talked about almanacs in the nation. News organizations such as USA Today, U.S. News and World Report, and NBC-TV have described the Hagerstown Almanack as "out forecasting" the National Weather Service, and being more accurate than most other weather almanacs.
Published by The Gruber Almanack Company, The Hagerstown Town and Country Almanac remains family owned and operated by the heirs of John Gruber. For travelers, the Almanack is also available at the I-70 East and West Maryland Welcome Centers, and the Sideling Hill Maryland Welcome Center. "We received very positive responses last year, when the Almanack was made available at the local Welcome Centers, and we're thrilled to be able to offer them again," Riford said.
First begun in 1797, the venerable guide is more than a listing of holidays and eclipses; it also includes information about the most endearing and enduring weather folklore.
Bill O'Toole, is a professor at Mount Saint Mary's University and serves as the weather prognosticator for the Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack, his Mid-Atlantic weather outlook has had amazing statistical accuracy. Here is the outlook for the remainder of 2007:
