Bester Elementary Awarded "Picturing America" Collection

Bester Elementary Awarded "Picturing America" Collection

Hagerstown, MD (May 30, 2007)- Bester Elementary School has been selected by the National Endowment for the Humanities to receive a pilot "We the People Picturing America" grant. The program is comprised of a set of laminated posters that are reproductions of classic American works of art, designed to promote the teaching, study, and understanding of American history and culture. A teacher's resource book also provides instructional guidance for the use of the materials in the classroom.
The terms of the grant simply require the school to encourage the use of the posters by teachers in the classroom, to keep the posters on continual exhibit in classrooms or public locations in the school from September 2007 through May 2008, and to retain the posters for future display and educational use.
