Northern Middle Indoor Guard Wins Championship
The Northern Middle School indoor guard won first place in the Keystone Indoor Drill Association (KIDA) 2007 competition at Southwestern High School in Hanover, PA, on March 31st. In only its second year of competition, the Northern Middle guard was crowned Junior Guard Champion over seven other guard units from the tri-state area. Northern Middle's guard began this season's practice schedule in October, and participated in local competitions starting in February, leading up to the championships.
FFA Students Place High at Regional Event
A number of Future Farmers of America (FFA) students from the Washington County Public Schools advanced to state competition after earning a 4th place ranking or higher in the Maryland FFA Region 1 Public Speaking Event at Fort Hill High School last month. The top four students in each event will represent Region 1 at the FFA State Convention, April 25-27 in Baltimore:
