Congratulations Goes To...

At Paramount Elementary...Justin Smith and Preston Carey, both from Mrs. Krehbiel's 4th grade class, who were members of the Hagerstown Chiefs Junior Football League Team. Justin was awarded both "Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Year". Preston was awarded "Offensive Player of the Year". The Chiefs had a record of 6-2 for the season.
At Hickory Elementary and Clear Spring High...have been selected as Maryland Character Education Schools. Both schools were selected for their school-wide approach to teaching and reinforcing character; implementing a character education program in partnership with parents and guardians to achieve and teaching and reinforcement of character at home and school; implementing a noteworthy program of student service learning to the school and community; and for demonstrating significant gains in student achievement and school climate that can be attributed to the implementation of character education programming.
At Boonsboro High...students Jeffrey DeTora, Matthew Johnson, and Adam Martens (Boonsboro Team C) took sixth place overall against 56 teams from around the state in the Central Maryland Physics Olympics held in February.
At Tech High...students who won the recent Western Maryland Regional Championships will be advancing to the state championships on March 30 & 31, which will take place at various locations in the Catonsville area.
Northern Middle...spelling bee winners. 6th grade winners in recent competition were Maggie Manspeaker in 1st place and Nat Philp in 2nd. In the 7th grade competition Lex Bondoc finished 1st and Morgan Grunberg 2nd. Sean Cremins finished 1st in the 8th grade competition and Payton Berry finished 2nd.
