Classrooms Care Project at Smithsburg Middle School
Congratulations goes to Mrs. Murphy's class for completing the Scholastic "Classrooms Care" project. Students read 300 books and choose to donate their 100 books to Save the Children. Save the Children will distribute books to a school impacted by Hurricane Katrina. A big thanks to the parents who encouraged their children to read books and signed their verification forms.
Salem Avenue Elementary Principal Shows United Way Spirit
Salem Avenue Elementary School Principal Tom Garner made good on his promise to dress in holiday fashion if his staff exceeded a goal of $2,000 contributed to the United Way of Washington County campaign. He donned an elf costume and greeted students with a sign announcing the final United Way figure of $2,700 as the students entered school this morning. Garner thanked his staff for their generous contributions to the United Way campaign.
