Clear Spring High School FFA Members Earn Honors at National Convention

Clear Spring High School FFA members brought home numerous honors and medals from the 79th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN, October 25-28, 2006. Students participated in career events, attended leadership development workshops, and had access to more than 1,300 business and college representatives at the National FFA Career Show.
Team and individual awards:
Environmental and Natural Resources Team--Gold--5th place
* Individual--Gold--Adam Lipella, Garrett Hamby, Adam Reid--Each individual gold medal winner also received a $500 National FFA scholarship; Silver--C. J. Ridenour
Farm Business Management Team--Silver
* Individual--Silver--Morgan Smith, Amy Ridenour, Brenna House, Katherine McCormick
Extemporaneous Public Speaking--Silver--Hannah Smith
Food Science Team--Bronze
* Individual--Silver--Lindsey Peacher, Allison Moore; Bronze--Casey McNamee, Mary Drury
Nursery/Landscape Team--Bronze
* Individual--Silver--Shannon Yeargan, Stephanie Moore; Bronze--Kayla Long, Jamie Beckley
Agricultural Issues Team--Bronze
* Individual--Bronze--Bob Hockenbury, Allen Mackey, J.D. Repp, Elliott Reid, Stefany Frey
Prepared Public Speaking--Bronze--Becky Funk
In addition, Lindsay Shirk was awarded the American FFA Degree, an honor achieved by less than 1% of the total national student membership. Advisors Susan Lowery and Terrie Shank accompanied the students.
