Building Homes, Rebuilding Lives! Habitat's Cars for Homes Program
Building Homes, Rebuilding Lives!
Habitat's Cars for Homes Program
About this time of the year, new car models are showing up in dealer showrooms around the nation. Many people are considering a new car at this time. Numerous families buying new ones are passing the old one on to a teen driver in the family. In many cases these teens have already the old family car from the previous purchase. Now there is an extra car that probably will not be used. So instead of buying tags and insurance for it, pass it on to a good cause.
This is just one scenario! There are many others! Anyone with an unwanted or unneeded vehicle of any sort may wish to get a tax break by donating it to Habitat. Then there are car, truck and boat dealerships with items they want to move off their sales lots. Consider this program.
Habitat for Humanity's Cars for Homes(tm) Program takes donated cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, RV's and other vehicles and sells them through automobile auctions, recyclers or salvage yards to raise funds that help build simple, decent, affordable homes.
The program generates revenues for local Habitat affiliates by sending 100% of the net proceeds, after expenses, to the local affiliates. Therefore, all vehicles donated by residents using Washington County zip codes will provide revenues to Habitat for Humanity of Washington County.
"Individuals or businesses can help provide affordable housing by donating their unwanted vehicles or boats to the Cars for Homes(tm)," said Sherry Brown Cooper, Executive Director of the local Habitat affiliate. "It is a hassle-free and easy way to give to Habitat."
Donors can call the Cars for Homes(tm) toll-free number or process their car donation online. Donor contact, title and vehicle information is collected and, upon acceptance of the donation, arrangements are made for the vehicle, keys and title to be picked up for processing. The local Habitat affiliate receives the sales proceeds after the towing fees and other expenses are paid. Donors receive an acknowledgement letter for their car donation and can check with the Internal Revenue Service or their tax advisor for information on the tax deductibility of their donation.
For more information or to donate a vehicle call 1-877-277-4244 or go online to www.carsforhomes.org.
Habitat for Humanity of Washington County touches lives! It helps families to achieve the dream of owning a home. Habitat empowers low-income families by partnering with them to build decent, affordable housing. It provides a program where families seeking to own a home can work alongside volunteers to build that home. Then they are allowed to purchase it at no profit and with zero interest loans, making payments they can afford. The majority of family members whose lives improve through Habitat's housing are children. For them, a decent place to live makes all the difference in the world.
Funding is essential! It is all through donations of a caring public. This new Cars for Homes(tm) Program will help with donations. Or, if you don't have a vehicle to give, perhaps make a cash donation. Simply call 301-791-9009.
