Fall striped bass season is right around the corner
Another record has been approved. I think this does it for awhile as this was the last PSWSFA member with a pending record. Jenny Manus' 17-pound 7-ounce blueline tilefish is now the All-Tackle World Record. Way to go Jenny!
The fall striped bass season is right around the corner. Bass Pro and the CCA have teamed up to conduct a Striped Bass Weekend September 29-October 1. There will be 3 days of seminars and other special events to get us ready for rockfish season.
The next PSWSFA fishing trip has been booked. We will be live-baiting big king mackerel on the Miss Hatteras Nov. 26. The first 20 anglers paid up will be our crew. Cost will be $170 per angler. Get with me to book your spot.
Sept. 18, Frank Kearney has been fishing near the carrier piers and has been catching all the spot they want.
Sept. 17, Charles and Hunter Southall fished the HRBT area. They caught about 25 nice spot up to a pound in weight.
Sept. 10, David Brabrand fished on the Striker in the area of the Norfolk Canyon. They caught some dolphin and 4 large longfins.
Sept. 10, Capt. Richard Bartlett on the Backlash fished the Norfolk Canyon. The came in with a catch of dolphin, yellowfin, longfin, and they released a white marlin.
Sept. 10, Tricia and I ran out to the Chesapeake Light Tower to see if anyone wanted to eat a spot. Two fish did. One broke off in the tower and the hook pulled on the other. Another boat there caught a 50-inch Jack Crevalle while we were there.
Sept. 9, Tricia and I fished Twin Stakes and caught a load of nice spot.
Sept. 8, the Backlash came in with an impressive catch from the Norfolk Canyon. They had a dozen big longfins, a bunch of dolphin, and several large yellowfin tuna.
Sept. 8, Steve Martin and Gary Donaldson fished Back River in their kayaks. They caught speckled trout to 21.5 inches, bluefish, stripers, and puppy drum.
Sept. 8, Mac McCormick fished Back River in his kayak. He came in with a stringer of six nice speckled trout.
Sept. 6, Stan and Devan Simmerman went out in their kayaks. They caught spot, puppy drum, speckled trout, and a blowfish. They only fished for an hour before they ran out of bait.
Sept. 4, Fran Kearney fished offshore out of Rudee. They caught 10 tilefish, 18 sea bass, 21 dolphin, and a 40-pound yellowfin.
