Soccer referee course
Soccer referee course
Western Maryland Soccer Officials Association (WMSOA) will sponsor an entry-level soccer referee course at Frederick High School (650 Carroll Parkway) in Frederick, Maryland from 6-9p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 24, 26, 31 and August 2, 7, 9. The course prepares youth and adults for certification as USSF Grade 8 referees and will allow certified referees to officiate youth and adult recreational soccer games. WMSOA provides referees to leagues in Frederick and Washington Counties.
The 18-hour course covers the Laws of the Game, officiating techniques, and game management. At the end of the course, there will be a 100 question, multiple-choice test for registration with USSF. Upon passing the entry-level test, participants will register with the United States Soccer Federation as a Grade 8 referee.
Participants should bring: Notebook, writing materials, Social Security number, and a check for $30 (covering the course material and instructor fees) to the first session. They will receive a lawbook and other course materials at that time. At the conclusion of the course, participants will need a check for $25 to register with USSF.
We encourage adults, teens, parents, players, and coaches to enroll in this course. Participants should be at least 12 years of age. Please invite your friends, teammates, and other adults to take this course with you. By refereeing youth and adult matches, you will earn good money while you help players, coaches and spectators enjoy "the beautiful game".
Although pre-registration is not mandatory, we recommend that you pre-register with Jeff Gardner at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put "Referee" in the subject line. Include participant's name, address, birth date, and phone number. At the first class session, the instructors will distribute a more complete registration form. Questions regarding the course or becoming a referee may be directed to Jeff Gardner at 301 606-2623.
You may also register at the first session on July 24 or at www.marylandsoccer.com/referees/index.html
