Wisdom From a Furry Friend: Frankfort the tabby
Wisdom From a Furry Friend
Frankfort the tabby
Hi. My name is Frankfort. I am a gorgeous 3 1/2-year-old grey/black tabby that has been living at the Humane Society of Washington County since the beginning of August. I am a lovely big boy with loads of personality. I am quite a loveable fellow, too. I am waiting for my forever family. Could that be you?
Did you know that this is a very busy time for the shelter right now? There are lots of cats and dogs here right now. It would be great if folks would come meet us because they might just fall in love with one of us and take us home. We would all love to go home to forever families.
You know, a pet is a lifetime commitment. It is very important that people remember that whenever they bring a pet into their household we require visits to the vet, inoculations for rabies and other diseases and we need food, water and a safe dry place to sleep and rest. Being snuggly comfy in your house is perfect and we don't take up too much space so that should work out well for everyone.
Remember that it is best if cats are inside cats. If we are let outside all sorts of dreadful things can happen to us. Statistics show that inside cats have a longer life span than outside cats so it is best we always stay inside and are taken outside in carriers when we leave the house.
My doggie friends need the same sort of care but most spend time outside to potty and play during the day. They need to wear collars to identify them in case they get lost. It is best if dogs stay on leashes when they are not in a secure, fenced area because then they can't run away and maybe be hit by a vehicle.
To make sure there aren't unwanted litters of kittens and puppies we need to be spayed/neutered. The Humane Society of Washington County (HSWC) has programs that can help pay for those surgeries if your pet isn't already spayed or neutered. If you are interested in learning about our spay/neuter programs please call the Humane Society at 301 733 2060. Ask for Kelly and she will help you.
Remember that if you adopt a pet from the HSWC the pet is already spayed/neutered. That is included in the adoption fee along with lots of other things like vaccinations, micro chipping and 30 days of pet insurance for most of us. It is a great deal, along with the two for one cat Purrfect Pairs deal that allows you to adopt two cats for the price of one. Isn't that great?
Well, I better get back to napping. I hope you will come meet us and help us find our forever homes. There are a lot of us waiting.
