Hager House offers haunted house tours

Hager House offers haunted house tours

Hagerstown, MD (September 27, 2010): The staff of the Jonathan Hager House and Museum will offer 'Haunted Hager House Tours' on October 8, 9, 15, 16, and 31 at 7pm, and 8pm and reservations are required.
Is the historic Jonathan Hager House haunted? What kinds of things "go bump in the night" in the home of the founder of Hagerstown? These questions and more will be answered during the 45-minute tours of the house.
According to John Bryan, Historic Sites Facilitator, "Tourists ask us all the time if the house is haunted. I can tell you that we do have incidents that go unexplained, and the best way to relate them is to offer our special 'Haunted Hager House' tours during the Halloween season."
The staff will present true stories of things that have occurred in the house, including as objects that move and reports of actual ghost sightings reported to staff by past visitors, volunteers and employees. "We'll let the tourist decide if there are ghosts or not- we're just relating what we have experienced. It will be up to the visitor to determine whether these stories have logical explanations," said Bryan.
The Jonathan Hager House is the original home of Jonathan Hager built in 1739 and is located at 110 Key Street, in Hagerstown's City Park. Admission for the tour is $3.00 per person with children under the age of six admitted free, but please keep in mind that this tour is designed for adults and children over eight years of age. For more information or reservations please call 301-739-8393 or e-mail hagerhouse@hagerstownmd.org.
