Children Go Behind the Scenes at the Hager House

Children Go Behind the Scenes at the Hager House

The staff of the Jonathan Hager House announces the Behind the Scenes at the Hager House children's weekend program. All children 6 to 12 years of age are invited to come out and join the fun on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 9am to 12pm. "This program will give the young visitor a unique opportunity to learn about what is hidden behind the scenes of a historic house museum," says John Bryan, Historic Sites Facilitator for the City of Hagerstown. "This will also be a great chance for children who have visited us before to view areas of the Hager House that are not included on the usual guided tour."
One of the special things about this behind the scenes program is that children will be able to touch a few select pieces in the house - something visitors of all ages frequently want to do. Children will also be able to try on child-sized costumes and create their own colonial toy to take home with them.
"Behind the Scenes" will be held at the Jonathan Hager House and Museum, located at 110 Key St., in Hagerstown City Park. Reservations are required by Friday, April 16, 2010 and there is a nominal admission fee of $2.00 per child to cover the cost of project materials. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children during the tour and observe the activities for an additional cost of $2, but no more than two parents will be allowed per participating child.
