Waynesboro: "Women Poets of the Victorian Era" will be the theme of the annual Waynesboro Historical Society Tea at 3pm Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2, in the historic Oller House at 138 W. Main St.
Photos of the poets will adorn the grand piano, and quotes from such notables as Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Emily Bronte and Jane Austen will appear on the guests' tables.
A member of the historical society will explain the history of the Oller House, and guided tours will be offered following the tea.
The menu will include soups, sandwiches and sweets, with both caffeinated and noncaffeinated tea available for guests.
The Victorian-era Oller House, the headquarters of the historical society, will provide the perfect setting for the tea, and the Oller House will be decorated for the occasion by volunteers.
There will be about 45 seats available for each of the two teas.
Tickets cost $18 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Groups of eight or more can purchase tickets for $15 apiece.
Those who plan to attend may send a check earmarked for the tea to the Waynesboro Historical Society, 138 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.
