Local Resident Assigned as the Battalion Chaplain

Hagerstown resident Chaplain Washington Johnson II, a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve, was recently assigned as the battalion chaplain for the Naval Mobility Construction Battalion (NMCB 23). His commission is to give spiritual and moral support to sailors and their families in the Mid-Atlantic region when they are deployed into the war zone. Johnson serves the New Joy Fellowship in Hagerstown with his wife, Dr. Joyce Johnson, as co-director of ministry to families in the church and the Hagerstown community. Chaplain Johnson may be reached at 510-759-2554. The Johnsons are parents to 11-year-old Washington III.
