Wisdom From a Furry Friend: Calvin

Wisdom From a Furry Friend

Hey there! I'm Calvin. I am a three and a half year old basset mix and I am living at the Humane Society of Washington County. I was found wandering and someone brought me to the shelter. I am a really good looking young gentleman with short legs and a long body. I have a beautiful brown and black coat and deep brown eyes. I have lots of personality and I love to say hello. I love to kiss and to run and play. Sometimes I get a little too enthusiastic when I say hello and I forget my manners and I jump up. That's why the people at the Humane Society think it is best that I live with a family with children that are 3 years old or older, so I don't knock them over when I say hello if I forget my manners. I am very smart and I have a secret. I would really like to have a forever home.
I am not the only homeless animal at the Humane Society. There are lots of us looking for good homes. Sometimes people forget to come here when they consider adding a pet to their family. I have to tell you, this is a great place to look for a four-legged companion. There are dogs and cats and sometimes rabbits and every so often other kinds of pets such as chinchillas, iguanas or even guinea pigs. You never know what you might find here.
And you know what? Adopting is easy. All you have to do is come into the shelter and meet us and fill out an application to start the process. If you can't get to the shelter right now you can go on line to the Humane Society's website, and click on the PetTango icon. That is where you can see all of the animals that are currently available for adoption. You can even fill out an application on line and start the process from your computer. It is that easy.
What is great about adopting a pet from the Humane Society of Washington County is that we have all been fixed before we go home so you won't have to worry about unwanted litters. We have also had our shots, except for rabies, and we are so happy to go to our new home.
Everyone at the Humane Society wants to remind you that the annual Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign is getting ready to start. That means the homeless animals at the shelter want you, your friends and family to come visit them before you go anywhere else for a new four-legged companion. They hope that you will open your hearts will give them a Home 4 the Holidays in 2009.
Don't forget about me. I would love to have my own family and you can take me home with you. I can cuddle and make you laugh. Come see me. We may be perfect together.
