Building Homes! Rebuilding Lives! A Touch of the West!

Building Homes! Rebuilding Lives!
A Touch of the West!

Americans have long been enchanted by the stories of cowboys in our nation's West! So for an evening of light-hearted fun, let Habitat for Humanity take you back to that era. The evening will begin as "cowboys" and "cowgirls" in western attire, against the decor that will add a touch of old-fashioned western atmosphere, greet guests. Themed, "Home, Home on the Range", Habitat for Humanity's 16th Annual Auction Dinner, will be held at 5:00 pm, Saturday, March 21 at Hagerstown Community College AARC building. Tickets are available now at $45.00 per person! But don't delay as the event sells out every year. Annually, the themed affair offers a lot of fun for those attending. Many attendees arrive dressed to fit the theme of the evening. This year, I expect a great number will be dressed in western attire, as those volunteers working the event plan to do. But whether you wear boots, jeans and sombreros, or arrive in normal clothes, your presence can help Habitat build another house. So, to ensure your chance of getting a ticket, call 301-791-9009 today.
There are many exciting auction items this year, including a hot air balloon ride that will accommodate up to three passengers offered by Velocity Flyers. For those looking for a nice vacation there are Weekend stays in Shenandoah Valley, a secluded cabin near The Woods, and The Inn at Blue Ridge Summit! Bonfire party with a hayride! And, there is a fishing trip on the Potomac with a guide! Also, a full week's stay at Wintergreen Resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Golfers attention! There are several golf packages including a membership at Beaver Creek Country Club!
There are numerous gift cards at restaurants around the area! Seat cushions from past Superbowls! Choice of 2 wedding dresses! Southwest Airline Tickets! Ski packages! Jewelry! Quilts! Pottery! Paintings! Custom Stained Glass! Your name in author Susan Donovan's next book plus 6 of her novels! Theatre and museum tickets for Hagerstown, Baltimore, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia! And many, many more! New items are coming in every day! And, once again this year, Leiter's Fine Catering will provide an excellent meal.
The $80,000 raised last year helped Habitat to continue building affordable housing for low-income families. This year's goal has again been set at $80,000. The homes are sold to qualifying families on a no-profit, no-interest mortgage. Families must put in 500-hours of "sweat equity" building on Habitat houses and participating in other Habitat projects alongside the Habitat volunteers. Dinner Auction is an exciting and fun method of supporting Habitat in its effort to build homes and rebuild lives.
Anyone wanting to order tickets for the auction dinner, or desiring more information on any phase of the Habitat operation, please call 301-791-9009.
