Traffic Advisory: Gas Mains Replacement

Traffic Advisory
Gas Mains Replacement

Beginning today, work crews from Columbia Gas Company of Maryland will be modifying their traffic control plan for the work that they are performing to replace gas mains in the 300 and 400 blocks of Summit Avenue. The work crews will be trenching and excavating in the street to install new mains and make service connections. Each of these blocks will be closed one at a time to all traffic to allow sufficient room for the work crews and their equipment. Traffic approaching the work area will be forced to detour around the closed blocks. Motorists approaching the work area may encounter flagmen, cones, barricades, detour signs, and other traffic control devices. Motorists are advised to seek other routes around the work zone. The work on these two blocks is expected to last until at least August 6, 2007.
Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through the work zone while each block is closed for construction.
Please contact the City Engineering Department at 301-739-8577 x125 if there are any questions regarding this advisory.
