Commissioners to Resume Evening Meetings

Commissioners to Resume Evening Meetings

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners have scheduled periodic evening meetings in the municipalities, beginning in July.
Eight meetings have been scheduled through the end of 2007 in the towns. Commissioners' Vice-President Terry Baker discussed night meetings with the Board following his election, and all agreed that using this method helps make County government more accessible to citizens and allows for greater interaction between the 9 municipalities and the County.
All evening meetings will begin at 7pm, with Citizens' Participation set for 7:30pm. On those night meeting dates, regular Commissioners meetings will begin at Noon.
Meetings have been scheduled in Clear Spring on July 10th; in Hancock on July 31st; at Sharpsburg on August 7th, in Smithsburg on September 25th; at Williamsport on October 9th; at Keedysville on October 23rd; in Funkstown on November 6th; and on December 4th at Boonsboro.
Meetings will be held in the Town Halls except for the Clear Spring gathering, which will be held in the town's Library. A location for the Boonsboro meeting will be announced at a later date.
The Commissioners hold quarterly meetings with the Hagerstown Mayor and Council. The next joint meeting is set for June 19th at 4pm in City Hall. Joint meetings are also held monthly with the Washington County Board of Education.
